ABSTRACT

Neurocysticercosis (NCC) is endemic in most of the developing world due to poor sanitary conditions, poverty, and illiteracy. It is considered the most common human central nervous system helminthic infection. Also, NCC is one of the most common causes of acquired epilepsy in endemic areas. Nevertheless, NCC appears to be a protective factor in the development of drug-resistant epilepsy, when we compare it with other etiologies such as structural epilepsy.
