ABSTRACT
Neurological disorders are the leading cause of
disability (250.7 million disability-adjusted life years) and the second
leading cause of death (9.4 million) worldwide. Furthermore, in the last three
decades, the absolute number of deaths increased by almost 40% and the
disability-adjusted life years increased more than 15%, despite declines in
communicable neurological disorders such as tetanus, meningitis, and
encephalitis.
