ABSTRACT

Drug‑induced parkinsonism, probably, is the most common drug‑induced movement disorder. It can be challenging to differentiate drug‑induced parkinsonism from idiopathic Parkinson’s disease based on symptoms alone. However, there are neuroimaging tests such as single‑photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) (I‑FP‑CIT [DaTscan]) and positron emission tomography (18F‑FP‑CIT) that can help distinguish between the two. It is essential to correctly diagnose drug‑induced parkinsonism because it can be reversed by stopping the medication causing it. Herein, we would like to discuss the current studies about the predictors of drug‑induced parkinsonism.

Keywords: Drug-induced; DIP; DP; movement disorders; parkinsonism.
